About Melinda

Who is Melinda Peters Elliott- Owner?

I’m a people person. I’m a dog lover. I’m a mom of 3 boys, a wife and a daughter.

I guess you could say that I love everything that goes into making a house a home, including the people and pets!

Creating creative, healthy, one-of-a-kind, unique and affordable interior designs and custom window treatments has been a mainstay in my life for over 26 years. I love it! Most of my clients are in the Columbus, Ohio area; however, I work with people from all over the midwest.

My design philosophy

I want my clients to not only love what their home feels like when I am finished but also to enjoy the process. My goal is for them to feel that all the money and effort that went into the “look” of their home goes deeper than just what it looks like. I want them to feel the confidence, pride and the satisfaction it gives them every time they enter the room, and to feel uplifted at home so they can deal with the day to day stresses. Finally, I want my clients’ homes to be healthy to live in!

A few key accomplishments

I’ve had many accomplishments over the years and my proudest moments are when clients get so excited about their homes and tell me how much they love it!

I won the Kirsch Designer of the Year Competition with my “Teacup” design in 2004. This design has since been created into hardware that is was sold in the Kirsch Drapery Hardware Catalog in the Buckingham Collection.

I’ve won Window Fashion- Vision Magazines’ Design Competition 7 times and am among only a few in the world to have achieved this many accolades from the magazine.

I’m an Associate ASID Member (American Society of Interior Designers), a Window Fashions Certified Professional-Expert (WFCP-Expert), and a member of the WFCP-Advisory Board for Vision Magazine. I am also a member of the Window Covering Association of America- WCAA.

I have just completed the ASID ReGREEN Certification to help my clients’ construct and live in a healthier environment. This encompasses either building a new home or just making changes in their existing homes to make it safer. I can also provide ways to save money and make your home or office function more efficiently.

I am a member of the Houzz Advisory Board and the Sherwin Williams Pro Panel.

Fine Designs & Interiors has won a “Best of Houzz-Customer Service” Award for 4 years in a row. Only 3% of Professionals on Houzz received this prestigious designation.

I was also picked as one of the 19 Best Interior Designers in Columbus
by Freshome in 2016. Click on the image (left) to see the article!

I attended Otterbein College for 2 years and graduated from Berry College in Rome, Georgia and have a Bachelor of Science degree in Consumer and Family Sciences with a concentration in Interior Design where I achieved the highest level in the industry for my designs.
